Electronic waste (e-waste) is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. With technology constantly evolving, outdated computers, laptops, and other devices often end up in landfills, causing serious environmental harm. At Infinite Recycling, we are committed to tackling this issue by providing responsible e-waste recycling and IT refurbishment services throughout The Manawatu.
The Growing E-Waste Problem in New Zealand
New Zealand generates thousands of tonnes of e-waste every year, but only a fraction of it is properly recycled. Much of it contains hazardous materials like lead, mercury, and cadmium, which can leach into the soil and water if not disposed of correctly. Our mission is to divert as much e-waste as possible from landfills and give electronic devices a second life.
How We Make a Difference
At Infinite Recycling, we follow a structured approach to ensure that e-waste is handled responsibly and sustainably:
- Collection & Pickup – We offer convenient collection services for businesses, schools, and individuals looking to dispose of unwanted IT equipment.
- Secure Data Destruction – Protecting your sensitive information is a priority. We ensure complete data wiping or physical destruction before processing devices.
- Refurbishment & Reuse – Many devices still have value. We repair and refurbish working computers and IT equipment, making them available for resale, donation, or repurposing.
- Component Recovery – Salvaging usable parts reduces the demand for new resources and lowers the environmental impact of manufacturing.
- Ethical Recycling – Non-repairable materials are sent to certified recycling partners, ensuring they are processed in an eco-friendly manner.
The Benefits of E-Waste Recycling
Recycling electronic waste is about more than just reducing landfill waste. It helps:
- Conserve natural resources by recovering valuable metals and materials.
- Reduce carbon emissions by limiting the need for new production.
- Support a circular economy by extending the lifespan of technology.
- Create local jobs in the recycling and refurbishment industry.
